2011 Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured

Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured offers a powerful 5.0-litre LR-V8 petrol engine, improved passive safety with an airbag restraint system for driver and front passenger, and a more luxurious interior with premium leather seats.

Although virtually indistinguishable from the standard model, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured features ballistic steel armour and glazing which provides ballistic protection in accordance with European standards BS EN1522 level FB6 and BS EN 1063 level BR6 respectively.

Developed in partnership with the vehicle armouring specialists Centigon, it also provides blast protection against 15kg TNT (or equivalent) detonated in close proximity to the vehicle and under floor protection against two DM51 hand grenades. The protection offered was certified by QinetiQ®, a globally recognised independent blast and ballistic testing organisation.

The Discovery 4 chassis features independent air suspension, and modifications that include uprated air springs and retuned dampers, larger diameter anti-roll bars, and heavy duty Alcon disc brakes front and rear.

Like the standard vehicle, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured comes equipped with advanced four-wheel-drive technologies to deliver outstanding all-terrain performance. For enhanced performance, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured is equipped with the new 375PS 5.0-litre LR-V8 direct-injection petrol engine, replacing the 2.7-litre V6 turbo-diesel used in the previous model. Teamed with a responsive six-speed automatic transmission, this refined and powerful new engine offers significantly faster acceleration, with 0-100km/h (62mph) achieved in just 10.6 seconds.

The new EU5 2.2-litre diesel engine replaces the EU4 2.4-litre diesel while matching it for power, torque and fuel consumption. A new, full acoustic engine cover replaces the previous splash cover, reducing radiated engine noise and improving driving refinement. Meeting EU5 regulations, the engine delivers lower levels of the regulated emissions, NOx, CO and HC thanks to an improved combustion system and sophisticated engine management system.

The GFT MT 82 six-speed gearbox has been retained for 2012 with its excellent ratio spread, high top gear for cruising and enhanced low-speed crawl capability. The lower first gear offers low crawl speed making towing on-road and off-road much easier. The low-down engine torque also helps in-gear acceleration and the tall sixth gear ensures excellent real-world cruising, refinement and fuel economy. Ground gears in both the gearbox and transfer box help contribute to the refinement of the transmission.

2012 Land Rover Range Rover

2012 Land Rover Range Rover is powered by powerful 4.4 LR-TDV8, specifically designed for the Range Rover which develops 313PS at 4,000rpm and 700Nm torque at between 1,500rpm and 3,000rpm. With combined fuel consumption of 30.1mpg, this made it one of the most powerful and economical diesels in the world at its introduction in 2011. Combined with the super-efficient ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission it returns CO2 emissions of just 253g/km.

The Supercharged LR-V8 remains one of the most uncompromisingly powerful and efficient petrol engines in its class, producing 510PS at between 6,000rpm and 6,500rpm with torque of 625Nm from 2500rpm-5500rpm. This immense performance, allows the Supercharged Range Rover to accelerate from 0-60mph in a mere 5.9 seconds.
