Maserati GranCabrio Sport uses the latest version of Maserati’s sonorous, all-alloy 4.7-litre V8, taken straight from the high-performance GranTurismo MC Stradale. This naturally aspirated engine produces 450 horsepower (331kW) at 7000rpm: that is10hp more than the GranCabrio. It is also rich with torque, with a peak of 510Nm (20Nm more than the GranCabrio) arriving at 4750rpm. Eighty percent of its maximum torque is already available at just 2500rpm. Besides added power, torque and responsiveness, the Friction Reduction Program has lowered the Maserati GranCabrio Sport’s fuel consumption by six percent to a combined total of 14.5 litres/100km.
The Maserati GranCabrio Sport is the first Maserati to match the upgraded, 450hp version of the 4.7-litre engine with the day-to-day luxury of a fully automatic transmission. This six-speed transmission includes the super-fast MC Auto Shift mode and has been developed for the Maserati GranCabrio Sport directly from the transmission in the Quattroporte Sport GT S.
The Maserati GranCabrio Sport will have the MC Sport Line packages available immediately at its launch, including interior and exterior carbon fibre features. For example it is possible to change the front splitter to carbon-fibre, while the side skirts are also available in black. The Astro-design, 20-inch wheels are also available in Shiny Anthracite Grey to create a darker, more-menacing look.

2012 Maserati GranCabrio Fendi
Maserati GranCabrio Fendi is crafted at the historical Maserati headquarters in Modena, with exclusive materials bespokely created in various colours for this project. The three-layered body colour named Grigio Fiamma Fendi is a special dark grey with an iridescent golden finish on the surface. The wood trim Pergamena Fendi runs across the width of the dashboard, on the doors and on the top of the gear lever, all in the iconic FENDI yellow, like the brake callipers and the embroidered yellow trident on the headrests.
Adding a stronger yet elegant character to the GranCabrio is FENDI’s unmistakable double F-logo, stitched on the seat, also appearing in the centre of the 20-inch Trident design alloy wheels, and the FENDI logo along the rocker panel. Cuoio Romano, Fendi’s most precious leather of its Selleria line, has been used for such details as the instrument cluster cover, for the gear lever and for the profiles of the floor mats. It also features in the Limited Edition Travel Set of luggage and accessories.
Silvia Venturini Fendi’s specially crafted logo seals this collaboration. A silver oval plaque with the engraving of the Maserati trident, Fendi logo and the 5-digit series number (five being an iconic number for Fendi) is located on the dashboard, in front of the passenger seat, and on both sides of the black cloth folding roof.

2011 Novitec Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale
NOVITEC TRIDENTE tradition, a supercharger is also employed to enhance the performance of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. The 4.7-liter eight-cylinder four-valve V engine drives the supercharger via a cogged belt. Maximum boost pressure is limited to 0.43 bar. To keep the charge-air temperature as low as possible, the supercharger system also includes a water-to-air intercooler connected to a dedicated water circuit with two heat exchangers that provides ideal temperatures.
The central air scoop in the NOVITEC TRIDENTE hood provides the supercharged engine with an optimal amount of combustion air. The hood is optionally available made from especially lightweight clear-coated carbon fiber. For optimal venting of the engine bay the hood, which also available individually without engine conversion, features two large air vents.
To match the rear diffuser of the MC Stradale the tuner upgrades the butterfly-valve production exhaust system with two black-coated or polished tailpipes with a diameter of 105 millimeters.
The complex supercharger conversion elevates the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale to a new performance level: with 646 hp at 7,500 rpm the NOVITEC TRIDENTE engine surpasses its root by 196 hp. Simultaneously peak torque grows to 460 lb/ft at 5,600 rpm. As is characteristic for a supercharged engine, the high-performance engine offers an extremely wide usable rev range from idle speed to the rev limiter.
In combination with the six-speed automatic transmission, whose gears are shifted either via shift paddles on the steering wheel or automatically, the tuned lightweight-construction sports car delivers excellent performance: from rest the MC Stradale shoots to 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds and reaches a speed of 124 mph after just 11.4 seconds. Top speed is 190 mph but optionally available longer gearing makes speeds in excess of 205 mph possible.
While the body of the top-of-the-line Maserati model remains unchanged with the exception of the hood, NOVITEC TRIDENTE upgrades the appearance of MC Stradale with a staggered custom-tailored tire/wheel combination that features 21-inch wheels in front and 22-inch alloy wheels on the rear axle. These staggered wheels further emphasize the wedge- shape design of the sports car.
The three-piece NOVITEC TRIDENTE NM3 wheels with five double spokes are mounted on the front axle in size 9Jx21. Size 255/30 ZR 21 Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires transfer steering, braking and cornering forces. Excellent traction on the driven axle is provided by size 315/25 ZR 22 tires mounted on size 11.5Jx22 rims.
The NOVITEC TRIDENTE ride-height lowering is specifically calibrated to the high-performance tires. Progressive sport springs lower the ride height of the coupe by some 25 millimeters, which benefits not only the MC Stradale’s appearance but also its handling that due to the lower center of gravity becomes even more agile.

2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport
The new GranTurismo Sport with its dual soul offers sporty handling and high-performance on one side, without compromising on elegance and passenger comfort on the other, characteristics no Maserati can be without. The new GranTurismo Sport in the Maserati MY13 product range replaces the GranTurismo S previously proposed in two versions, with automatic and robotised manual transmission. In the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand it will be marketed beginning with the MY 2013 range.
The powerful 4.7-litre V8 engine can now deliver a maximum power of 460 HP (338 kW) and a peak torque of 520 Nm, without penalising fuel consumption and emissions. These parameters, coupled with the electro actuated gearbox featuring MC Shift technology for faster gear changes (down to 100 ms), enable the GranTurismo Sport to reach an impressive top speed of 300 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. The version with automatic transmission and MC Auto Shift management software (which is also used in the GranCabrio Sport and Quattroporte Sport GT S) also benefits from significantly enhanced performance, achieving a top speed of 298 km/h and acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

2007 Maserati Gran Turismo Coupe
The Granturismo is quick, sounds great, averages over 21mpg across 3000 miles of mixed driving, seats 4, and yet still is a major attraction where ever it is. And its more acceptable than most other supercars. It even has a 2 year service interval (or 12000 miles) - thats more like a French hatchback than an Italian supercar! But shop around for servicing costs - they vary dramatically between dealers.
Is there a better GT car out there, that seats 4 in comfort, that you feel ok about leaving in the rain, ....and still turns all the heads.....? ....No, I can't think of one. Can you?
At prices now starting in the low £50k area, the price of exclusivity and understated sheer class is pretty much affordable - a new one will depreciate heavily, and there are some excellent low mileage cars out there. Try both the Standard car and the S before you buy - the fiesty gearbox on the S might become a pain after a while. Go for the 4.2, its ZF 6 speed box, and cruise effortlessly right up to its claimed top end of 175mph. I've been just short of 160, and it still feels just fine.
